Recently, Mr. Philippe Lucas of the Vancouver Island Compassion Society contacted me, and he has drawn my attention to some problems with Health Canada's pilot pharmacy-based medical marijuana distribution program. A copy of Mr. Lucas's correspondence is enclosed for your attention. As you will see, it seems more cost effective and logical that Health Canada should focus its medical marijuana distribution from the existing, organized, and fully operational Compassion organizations of this country.
I support Mr. Lucas's position, and I urge you to take a closer look at the more simple and cost effective solution to medicinal cannabis delivery. The Government of Canada must re-evaluate its medical marijuana program based on the interests of the many chronically ill Canadians who rely on marijuana as the only effective medication they have to relieve their suffering. Anything else would only serve to perpetuate the cruelty inherent in the government's current approach to the matter.
I look forward to your earliest possible reply.
